Dallas and Houston: Different Paths on Mass Transit

Here is a good article comparing how Dallas and Houston have handled mass transit over the last 30 years.  Dallas wins, but Houston is coming around.  I find this particularly interesting because Houston, in the early 1980’s, passed mass transit enabling legislation before Dallas.  However, the legislation, along with the taxing authority, was so contentious that a year later it was rescinded.  Meanwhile, Dallas held their mass transit election; it passed and there has been no looking back.
